Interior Lighting

Interior Lighting is essential for every property.

When you think about decorating the interior of a property, there are so many different lighting options available. ceiling Lights, wall Lights, table lamps, floor lamps are the obvious ones, however there many more to consider such as recessed lights, spotlights, under cabinet lights or led tape for example. We boast an extensive range in our Staffordshire showroom and we have several staff members who boast over 40 years experience and would be more than happy to offer any assistance when required.

When you purchase a property, whether it is used as your home or for business purposes, the lighting is an integral part of the interior. You have to take into account many considerations when choosing your lighting, such as, lumen output, size, style and practicality being just a few important points you have to consider, not to mention energy consumption.

The two main criteria’s you need to meet are lumen output and size. Each room will be different but it is important you take each room step by step and ensure the lighting provides an adequate lighting level for it’s designated area. For example it is crucial that in working areas such as a kitchen, you have sufficient lighting to allow you to partake in everyday tasks with ease without straining your eyes. In other areas such as a bedroom you maybe more inclined to have a reduced light, described as an ambient light level, allowing you to relax with ease. Of course in many cases you can install a dimmer switch which will allow you to alternate the levels of brightness. Size is also a necessary consideration, with height being the main concern for many with low ceiling heights many are often restricted to flush ceiling lights, however on the other end of the scale, if you have a large staircase and want a statement chandelier it is important that you choose something which fits correctly with the size of the stairway, otherwise if you select something too small it may look out of proportion.

It is exciting selecting lights, so when you are filled with a mass of ideas and designs it can be a bit bewildering. It is crucial you take your time and pick lights which will match your properties interior. Some will opt for eye-catching pieces where others will select lights which just bed in with the rest of their interior. There is a mass of finishes to select from, such as polished chrome, brushed chrome, antique brass, copper and satin brass just to name a few, so this is another consideration to take in. When purchasing a ceiling light fitting you may also want matching wall, table or floor lamps, if this is the case, ensure you ask or check that this is possible in your desired range. Of course some lights are more exciting than others, a two tier crystal chandelier is obviously more exciting than several recessed downlights, however it is important you take practicality into consideration and carefully select the correct products for the correct rooms.

Another consideration to take is energy consumption. A lot of light fittings come complete with built in led, however others allow you put led lamps into the fitting. If you leave lights on for long periods it is important you install a fitting which features led lamps/chips allowing you to keep running costs down. They will light immediately and boast large warranties, meaning you don’t have to worry about changing lamps, which is a big bonus, whilst they are also cool running.
