Light Bulbs

There are more options than ever when it comes to picking light bulbs for your light fittings, at WT Lighting we stock a vast range of light bulbs. Some of the most popular light bulbs we stock are, LED lamps, Incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps and tubes. We also stock sodium and metal halide lamps along with many more lightbulbs. There are an array of different caps, styles and size of lamps without even mentioning the different colour renderings, warm white, cool white and daylight for example. Where possible we recommend customers use LED lamps, as they offer an array benefits such as, minimum power output, instant light levels (doesn’t have to warm up like some low energy lamps), they are cool running and the majority of lamps also come with large warranties. They can be dimmed, however you need to check the compatibility of the dimmer switch which is complimenting the lamps to ensure they can work together. Some lights now come with built-in led lamps in them. Golf ball lamps, candle lamps and gls lamps, which many people use in decorative household fittings, are found in incandescent, halogen and led and low energy versions, whilst Gu10 lamps and dichroic lamps can also be found in halogen and led versions. Fluorescent tubes tend to be low energy lamps, however LED versions are also available. G9 lamps are now used in multiple light fittings, these are available in halogen and led styles. There are too many lamps to discuss, but hopefully we have covered the main areas. Some of the main caps used are SES(E14), ES(E27), BC(B22), SBC(B15),Gu10,MR16 and G9,but there are many more. When selecting a light fitting and lamps it is worth considering if you would like to dim the light bulbs, this is important as certain bulbs will not dim, it is also essential you use the correct dimmer module size. At WT lighting we also stock some of the more traditional lamps such as twisted candle lamps, candlelux lamps and opaque lamps, we obviously sell clear as well but Opal often provide more of a challenge for people to source. Vintage and decorative filaments are currently very popular, these look great in clear pendants and light fittings where you can see the filament, but please bear in mind these are more for decoration than a main light source. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions on light bulb selections or if you are trying to reduce your electricity bills. Many lamps we haven’t mentioned but please give us a go if you are trying to source a certain lamp. Please note we only put a select range online and stock many kore at our Staffordshire showroom.
